Chicago Evil
History of the Team:
Evil Factory Team (EFT) was created in late 2002 to help market the growing line of tournament Evil paintball products being sold by Pursuit Marketing Inc. (PMI). Since its inception the team was run and owned by John Rathbun, but players have been pulled from other notable teams such as Farside, Aftershock, Justice, Detroit Fusion, Diesel and many more. The original core of players was pulled from Farside and David Zorn, John Dresser and Brian Hansas still play with EFT today. The team managed to win their first ever tournament, the Indiana State Championships.
2003 was a banner year for EFT as the team rose above the hype and won an unprecedented three national tournaments in a row: the very first NPPL Huntington Beach, Mardi Gras and PSP Pamona. No team could keep up that schedule and the team did not play in every event for either league and won neither season title even after a victory at the NPPL in New Jersey.
EFT decided to concentrate on the NPPL in 2004 and set out to win the series title. After a near miss in Huntington Beach, the team won the Tampa NPPL event. Another first place finish in Toulouse wrapped up the NPPL season title before the last event was even played. They also branched out and due to the generosity of Rob Blitz they were able to play and win New Zealand s first ever indoor tournament.
Winning the season title in 2004 meant that EFT was entered into the elite 18 of the NPPL Pro league. After losing players, the team was at its weakest point ever and entered into the year in danger of being knocked completely out of the Pro ranks. Thanks to several mid-season pickups, the team managed to survive the Pro cut and even make it into the final 8 to be featured on ESPN in Miami.
2006 turned out to be a great year for Chicago Evil. The team finished the season in 9th place in the Pro Division, out of 18 teams... which is their highest finish to date. The highlight of the season was a 4th place finish at the NPPL Super 7 Event in Boston, MA. The team also had strong showing at the NPPL Super 7 Events in San Diego and Orange County, finishing 9th and 8th respectively.
